In March 2016 I was laid off from my job of six years, working at 5TH Cell.  It was a surreal experience--not because it was unexpected, but rather because we'd all been dreading the day for so long.  As with all big moments in life, it kicked off a series of smaller events that ultimately lead me here, to this very page and blog post.

I didn't have much time to process the layoff.  The very next morning I hopped on a plane with my two best buddies, and headed to San Francisco with the intent to catch the Warriors play the Clippers at Oracle Arena.  We'd planned the trip for months in advance, and there was nothing to do but go.

It was an absolute blast. We landed, wandered, ate great food, visited ILM (thanks Jose!) and ended the trip standing on the floor at Oracle after the Dubs easily ripped the Trailblazers.  All in all, it was a bright, sunny contrast to the dark cloud I'd left back home.  Sure, there'd be plenty to do when I returned but for the time being it was pure relaxation (and a LOT of walking).

On the other hand, by the time I'd touched down, my phone was abuzz with friends asking if I was alright, past colleagues asking for my resume and portfolio, recruiters asking to meet, and the beginnings of freelance opportunities.  I was genuinely touched by all of the people who were concerned or wanted to help out.

Thing is, I didn't have any of it ready to go.

Despite the fact that I keep busy drawing, writing, and modeling, I just hadn't organized anything in a long time.  I know, I know, shame on me.  But the truth of the matter is that I was expecting to take a break.  I'd been fortunate enough to stay gainfully employed for 11 years in my industry, mostly on original IP and startup ventures.  Still, after spending the last few years in a managerial role, I needed to update my portfolio and I wanted to spend some time working on several personal projects that I'd been developing for a while.

This site is the beginning of me dipping my toes into that pool.  It's been long overdue, honestly.  What I hope to create here is not just a repository for my mental amblings and artwork, but also a place where I can share the process of exploring and creating projects that I have been dreaming of for years.  From little doodles, to comics, to sculpts of toys I'm working on and beyond, this is the start of a grand adventure.

Thanks for riding along, I've always enjoyed the company.  :)
